Coagula Curatorial is pleased to present its first solo exhibition by LA based artist Jonmarc Edwards. This show will feature work from Jonmarc’s provocative and tactile series of paintings, Mid City. Named after the location of Jonmarc’s studio in Los Angeles, Mid City integrates an assortment of street materials, textual fallout with emotive color compositions to create an active relationship between the up-right two-dimensional plane and the Mid City surroundings that inform and inspire the paintings content.

Burning Bridge
Jonmarc Edwards will be showing seven paintings from the Burning Bridge series at Captivity opening Thursday September 9th. Extraordinary surfaces, violent and charred in some pieces, these works have an emotional resonance mixed with an elegant decay. Using a variety of materials and actions these paintings reveal through their underlying structures and literal motif the poetics of fire, its aftermath and rebirth.

ARRAY! Small Works on Paper
Captivity will be showing small works on paper by LA artist jonmarc edwards. ARRAY! Consists of over 35 small-scale works on paper, from an early print from High School to recent photographic collages. Many of these pieces have not been shown with a few works recently discovered in his Parents basement. This exhibition also reveals great insight into the development and culmination of his more widely know “Merge” style artworks with a few examples of the early New York City gouache drawings.
