SPOTLIGHTS can be seen as an index of sorts, a musing of possibility. Once again, using studio materials such as paint jar lids, pencil erasers, empty tape rolls, small plates, and other circular artifacts, JMe incorporates them into various ways for each disc or spotlight to vie for attention. …And during these mark-makings and circular impressions, a determination to express the projections and pathways of light with paint. Other paintings in the SPOTLIGHT series concentrate on three or four discs with geometric projections crossing paths; some works are three-dimensional or monochromatic. But this painting, SPOTLIGHTS, is about learning what is out there and where to go next.
