Trapezoids are a favorite form for jonmarc to show action and dynamism while at the same time using simple geometric forms to create complex compositions. The work became instrumental to a whole on-going series of paintings calling attention to global warming and the Arctic environment. On a tangible level jonmarc focuses on the tension and play between the geometric forms suggesting a slow-moving relationship of color and shape. Or perhaps a collision course between trapezoids, a distorted square, the square being the symbol of balance, logic, law and order, clearly humanity is losing the battle with all these representations with regards to nature.
