I enjoyed strolling around the Broad museum rooms, reliving the 80’s with Keith Haring on the walls. His work significantly influenced me then, mainly for the sheer audacity of the subject matter and, of course, the scale. There is always a tinge of regret and sadness when looking at his work; so much energy and hope only to end so quickly. I am keeping this missive vague and, on the surface, as I plan to write more extensively someday about Haring’s work and how it played a big part in my politics and approach to painting and art making. I hope everyone who reads this in LA can see the exhibition.
