The title informs us that this is a dramatic painting or at least one with intuitive panache. Painted during the summer of 2020, Don’t Say Macbeth combines spontaneity and intrepid color choices. Having started the painting with a large red splash, JMe continued to use a warm palette to accentuate the compositions, words, and textures, all to remedy his initial red salvo. As he continued to paint, he realized he was working off a raw canvas, indicating that there would be no base or ground to work with if the painting were to turn muddy or unwieldy. Never looking back, JMe continued to create balance from chaos and nuance out of large blocky areas, creating a dramatic expression using warm hues and various viscous and thin paint applications. The visual appeal of Don’t Say MacBeth is palpable.
