“Dig Your Dreams” is one of Jonmarc Edwards’ most cherished creations. This multifaceted masterpiece is not merely a painting or an installation; it embodies elements of performance art and employs unconventional materials to deliver a thought-provoking experience.

The installation features a 24” x 30” canvas, a bag of garden mulch, and a shovel. With meticulous care, Jonmarc sprinkles the mulch onto the canvas, spelling out the evocative phrase, “Dig Your Dreams.” The canvas, balanced atop the bag of mulch, serves as a literal and figurative foundation for the piece. The shovel is strategically placed between “Dig” and “Your,” inviting the viewer to contemplate digging as a metaphor for unearthing potential and aspirations.

The artwork’s sensory elements, including the mulch’s earthy smell, evoke a visceral connection to the act of gardening and the tactile pleasure of working with one’s hands. This olfactory dimension adds another layer of immersion, drawing spectators into the experience.

At a pivotal moment, spectators are gathered around the piece. With a dramatic flourish, Jonmarc seizes the shovel and drives it into the canvas, declaring, “Dig Your Dreams.” The act disrupts the orderly arrangement of words, causing the mulch to scatter and altering the composition. This moment of dynamic transformation compels viewers to reflect on the multifaceted meanings of the phrase and the transient nature of dreams and aspirations.

“Dig Your Dreams” celebrates imagination, a sensual exploration of material and meaning, and a provocative invitation to engage with the art on a profoundly personal level. Bravo!
