A smoldering structure stands tall in the aftermath of a devastating fire. Yet, Burning Bridge II is not simply a relic of catastrophe—it is a meditation on the intertwined nature of destruction and creation, and the reverberations set in motion when these forces collide. As part of a series, this painting challenges the senses and equilibrium, its composition, color, and style continuously shifting beneath the viewer’s gaze.

JMe describes these works as “post-monosyllable” in style, constructing the bridge’s piers and girders from his own “invented” compressed words. Inspired by the soaring lines of the Golden Gate Bridge, the arrangement breaks out from the confines of the rectangular wood panel— tapping into a larger emotional landscape, uncontained and expanding.

A deep cobalt blue establishes a visual bedrock from which the structure and ashen remnants rise, balancing expressive restraint with the raw presence of energy displaced. Black charcoal anchors the composition, while the painting as a whole evokes the tranquil yet ordered spirit of an Asian screen, where underlying structure supports the organic dance of ash and debris. Burning Bridge II is at once a testament to endurance, and an invitation to witness beauty forged from the memory of ruin.
