Scottish Artist Charlie Yates Begins Three-Month Painting Residency at MARKET Studio
LOS ANGELES, CA — September 14, 2026 — MARKET Studio is pleased to announce a three-month painting residency with Charlie Yates, an Los Angeles based, award-winning Scottish artist and recent graduate of CalArts.
Working primarily across oil painting and installation, Yates explores memory, place, and perception, with particular attention to the shifting relationship between nature, atmosphere, and light. During the residency, he will use MARKET Studio as both a workspace and a resource for material research while developing a new body of paintings.
The residency extends ideas developed through Yates’s recent solo exhibition, Pursuit of a Shadow, presented at No Signal Studio in Westwood, Los Angeles, from August 1 through September 23, 2026.
