Royal Tyrrell Museum
The Royal Tyrrell Museum, located about an hour east of Calgary, makes for an easy and worthwhile day trip. The drive is straightforward and scenic in its own quiet way, passing wide-open farmland, fields, and only a few small towns. Once there, the museum is impressive: spacious, thoughtfully organized, and packed with fascinating dinosaur exhibits that are easy to explore at your own pace. I did not have time to visit the outdoor dinosaur fields, but the indoor exhibitions alone were excellent, with dramatic fossil displays, holographic features, and plenty of educational interactive screens for kids. If you are interested in dinosaurs, natural history, or a family-friendly stop outside Calgary, this museum is absolutely worth the drive and the time.
